My name is Phillip Isom. I have been a media artist since 1976. I began my career in college as a DJ, spinning records in a basement student center called The Cave. I got paid a free meal, cooked by a large black man who liked to be called Doc. He wasn’t always the most sanitary, but he did make some good food.
Later, I worked a few years for a mobile DJ company where I did the gamut of school dances and proms to corporate boat rides and weddings. From there I got hired to work in nightclubs, which somehow took me to writing and doing stand up comedy. I also did a couple small radio shows, but when videos took over the music industry, I moved with it, even auditioning for MTV back when it was interested in music. I didn’t get that gig, but fate shined when I found I had a talent for camera work. I started working for large corporations that were doing video conferences, and video production houses, doing studio, as well as remote audio and video shoots. After doing that a few years, I transitioned into becoming an Independent Video Producer, while also a freelance camera operator for live sports broadcasts of major league sporting events around the country,
The last few years I have been working with still photography, and it has become my new passion. After some positive feedback on my first photobook, I decided to create a site to highlight my work. I’d also like to someday make this site available to other artists who simply are looking for a forum to display their art. BDS will be a place where artist can inspire other artist to create whats inside them, whatever it is they feel they have to get out and express to the world. Whether its photography, painting, sculpture, graphic arts, music, or video.
